Project Description: Biological assessment of rivers and streams using standardized sampling methods; qualitative and quantitative habitat assessments; field measured parameters and water sample collection.
Position Description: Work as a member of a 2-3 person field crew that collects fish data in rivers and streams. Responsible for the execution of sampling, data recording, and equipment operation and maintenance tasks under the direction of a qualified crew leader. Must be able to assist in the operation of wading and boat mounted electrofishing gear, boats and outboard motors, boat trailering, and the collection of biological samples and in-field processing and sorting of samples. Field crews travel together over extended periods including consecutive weekends (up to 30 consecutive days). Work-related costs while traveling, including lodging and meals, are covered by MBI. Employees are responsible for their own living arrangements and costs when not on an MBI trip and when field conditions preclude sampling. Employment with MBI is “at will”.

Baseline Skills Required: Ability to perform supervised field sampling and maintain a variable work schedule including irregular hours, overtime hours, and extended overnight travel including consecutive weekends, and work that can at times be strenuous. The ability to work effectively as part of a team on a day-to-day basis is a must. Experience working on or around water and with small watercraft is desirable.
