The Central Ohio Reuse Coalition (CORC) has a paid part-time internship available for a sustainability-minded OSU student interested in studying how to promote reuse for coffee shops, farmers market vendors, and other small businesses as a way to address the single-use plastic crisis. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in both the consumer and business aspects of sustainability.
The internship will support activities including :
1. Researching what kinds of reuse incentives (deposits, discounts, penalties, reward programs, etc.) are most effective and why.
2. Developing a plan to implement and evaluate container reuse incentives in conjunction with a reuse software platform and vendors at the Worthington Farmers Market.
3. Determining what factors will drive consumers to participate in a reusable cup program at independent coffee shops in Columbus. This program is funded by a grant from the City of Columbus.
This project aims to deepen our understanding of how to implement reuse initiatives to address the crisis of single-use waste, especially plastic, in our environment. This position is for the Spring 2025 Semester.
The Central Ohio Reuse Coalition (CORC) is an organization committed to promoting reuse as a solution to the single use plastic crisis.
The work will start in January, 2025. Interested students should contact CORC no later than Friday, November 22. Please contact:
