Event Description
Forestry Teacher Field Days + Envirothon Training is a unique collaborative professional development event bringing together educators, outdoor professionals, and conservation partners for two days of hands-on learning and networking at the Gwynne Conservation Area in London, Ohio. Forestry Teacher Field Days is an annual event hosted by the Ohio Division of Forestry and Project Learning Tree-Ohio that helps connect educators with Ohio’s forests, wildlife, natural resources, and outdoor learning opportunities. Registration of $30 covers all materials and lunch each day.
Day 1 focuses on shared learning experiences where all participants explore forestry, wildlife, natural resources, and outdoor education through engaging field-based activities and demonstrations. Participants will gain practical knowledge, connect with natural resource professionals, and discover ways to bring environmental education concepts back to their students and communities, including resources designed to support current and future Envirothon coaches and teams.
On Day 2, participants choose their own learning path. Educators interested in Project Learning Tree will participate in hands-on training focused on activities, teaching strategies, and environmental education resources for learners of all ages. Participants interested in Ohio Envirothon will receive additional training and resources designed to support current and future Envirothon coaches and teams while strengthening environmental and natural resource education for high school students.
Project Learning Tree (PLT) is an environmental education program of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and is sponsored in Ohio by the Ohio Division of Forestry. PLT is committed to advancing environmental education, forest literacy, and green career pathways by using trees and forests as windows on the world. PLT’s award-winning resources support a lifetime of learning from early childhood through adulthood while providing professional development opportunities for educators and pathways for young adults to explore forests, conservation, and green careers.
This collaborative event is designed to inspire educators, build connections, and equip participants with meaningful resources and experiences that support the next generation of environmental stewards.
