The Environmental Professionals Network hosts a monthly breakfast series with compelling speakers on important innovative topics at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center on Ohio State’s campus - open to all!

Toward sustainable and resilient water resources—EPA takes a systems approach to mitigate nutrient impairment in New England’s Narragansett Bay watershed

Presenter: Joseph Fiksel (OSU Center for Resilience)

 

Dr. Joseph Fiksel, Executive Director, OSU Center for Resilience and U.S. EPA special assistant for sustainability.

Fiksel is an internationally recognized authority on supply chain sustainability and resilience, with over 25 years of research and consulting experience for multi-national companies, government agencies and industry consortia such as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.  Currently he is serving on a special appointment at the U.S. EPA, helping to incorporate sustainability and systems thinking into the agency’s research and development work.  A native of Montreal, Fiksel began his career at DuPont of Canada, and later served as Director of Decision and Risk Management at Arthur D. Little, Inc. and Vice President for Life Cycle Management at Battelle Memorial Institute.  He holds a bachelor’s degree from M.I.T., a doctorate from Stanford University, and an advanced degree from La Sorbonne.  His most recent book is Design for Environment: A Guide to Sustainable Product Development, 2009.
